“Top 10 questions that went through my mind

before I completed my first triathlon”

 

Question#1….. What the hell was I thinking?

A:  Was it a momentary lapse in sanity? Not quite sure…but I guess each person has his or her own motivational reasons why they choose to do a triathlon.

Question #2   ….What if I am the LAST person to cross the finish line?

A: While I understand mathematically that indeed one person will be last, the statistical odds that it will be you are very low.  But let’s say for arguments sake that you ARE last, at least you will have a ton of people cheering for you as everyone is already done!

Question #3…..How will I be able to train for this and still raise 2 small children and a husband while still holding down a job?

A:   My advice here is to be flexible.  Classes are starting soon entitled “How to dress a Barbie Doll in an Evening Gown While Running a 7 Minute Mile on the Treadmill”   and “Don’t MAKE me get off this Stationary Bike”  

Question #4…..Should I take out a second mortgage to pay for all the gear I will need?

A:  Actually, a small personal loan should cover the expenses…check with your bank.

Question #5…..What the hell was I thinking, and how can I get myself out if this?

Question #6…..What do I wear and will it make my butt look big?

A:  I have not done any research on this, but believe that Lycra was invented by a sadistic man with 0% body fat.

Question #7…..What is BODY GLIDE and why is it used?

A: A mystery substance used by athletes that you rub all over your body to create a smooth slippery surface

Question #8… Where do I change clothes?

A:  The answer here is –you don’t!    And just a tip to the guys -please make some good choices- Speedos are NOT for everyone!

Question #9……Can fish bite through a wetsuit?

A:  As far as I know,   no one has ever been bitten by a fish during a triathlon. (Snapping turtles are a different story)

Question #10…..Why DO people do these?

A:  As if the cool t-shirt and free food weren’t enough, you meet some really nice people, make life-long friends,  live a strong, healthy lifestyle and feel pretty good about yourself.
